WARNING

The Balanced Budget Act of 1997, Public Law 105-33, Section 9302, relating to tobacco products administered by the Bureau

Of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), added a new section of law at 26 U.S.C. 5754, entitled "Restrictions on importation
of previously exported tobacco products." The new section states that on or after 01-JAN-00, U.S. Customs Service will not

allow previously exported tobacco products, cigarette papers or tubes to be returned to the United States. Cigarettes made
in the U.S. and purchased in Duty Free Stores fall under this restriction. You may not return these US made cigarettes and

other tobacco products to the US from abroad. A new section of law, 26 U.S.C. 5761(c), also imposes a new civil penalty on
persons, who return to the U.S. when these goods have been labeled and exported. The civil penalty is the greater of $1,000
or five times the amount of the tax imposed on the product.
